Victoria Lafitte and Adam Rosado’s love story begins and ends in New Orleans. It all started in the echoing halls of Loyola University’s School of Music where both students studied. With their lockers conveniently placed directly across from one another, a smile turned into a conversation, which in time flourished into a loving relationship. This relationship would withstand the test of time and distance while the couple spent two years attending grad school in different states.
Two years later, Victoria and Adam sat down to an elegant lunch at New Orleans’ famous Commanders Palace. It was here, in the city where the two first fell in love, where Adam decided to pop the question. Much to Victoria’s surprise, Adam had long since been saving for a ring.
There was no question about where the ceremony would be held. Victoria and Adam wanted to show their families how celebrations are done in The Big Easy! After much venue research, the couple decided to have both their ceremony and reception held at The Balcony Ballroom where they wished to incorporate both of their religious upbringings into their NOLA themed wedding.
Bathed in white and coral light, the two exchanged vows under their custom made chuppah. The cloth used as the canopy had special meaning to Adam, as it was a prayer shawl given to him at his Bar Mitzvah by his grandfather from Israel. As Victoria and Adam gazed into one another’s eyes, the couple was serenaded by two of their guests in an angelic opera duet. The audience was equally as incorporated into the experience as each of them watched while wearing their very own yamaka.
Just like the ceremony, the reception was no less personalized. While their chosen band, Wise Guys, kept everybody moving on the dance floor, a mixologist kept guests preoccupied at the bar with Sazeracs and Mint Juleps to show out of towners a couple of Nola’s favorite cocktails. As if that wasn’t enough, Victoria posted up at her old place of work and surprised guests by manning the Chilly’s Snoballs stand that night! As the evening went on, guests danced in the glittering light reflected off the gold sequin tablecloths, children gobbled down delicious New Orleans traditional bananas foster for dessert, a second line parade had guests marching festively around the room waving their handkerchiefs, and finally as the evening drew to an end, guests trickled out with hot sauce favors in hand.
Couples always strive to make their weddings uniquely their own and Victoria and Adam were no exception. As a tribute to the city where they first fell in love, Victoria and Adam made sure that the city of jazz was the central theme of the celebration. In order to tell a more complete story, the couple made sure to have traces of their individual upbringings sprinkled throughout the ceremony. It was clear from the moment the wedding began, that true love and joy was radiating from every person in the ballroom. The new Mr. and Mrs. Rosado’s love story is far from over, but it was in New Orleans where they met and it was in New Orleans where they tied the knot and it’s New Orleans that will always hold a special place in their hearts.
